Granite is an igneous rock and is usually medium to coarsely crystalline, occasionally with some larger individual crystals. The word granite comes from the Latin ‘Granum’, a grain, which refers to the coarse-grained structure of the rock. Granites are available in many colours from lighter pink tones through to dark grey and even black. By nature granite is extremely durable, making it ideal for use as a construction stone.
